Greensboro Children’s Museum Donor Wall

After the Greensboro Children’s Museum rebranded their image and refreshed their museum’s physical look, they asked Holt Experiential to upgrade their donor wall to fit with their new image while honoring their original and most recent donors.

“Holt’s vision matched perfectly,” said Marian King, CEO of the Greensboro Children’s Museum. “After touring our space and talking with us about our objectives, they went to work with their magic. They came back with an extremely creative idea that brought our new brand to life.”

The previous donor wall was made with small, detachable graphics attached to a cinder block wall. The donors were divided into three categories: Founding Donors, Annual Donors, and Edible Schoolyard Donors.

Holt upgraded the donor wall by:

Higher level graphic design that divided the three donor categories by 3 bold colors
Placing the donor names in circles proportionately-sized to their donation dollars and making the largest donor’s circles three-dimensional
Adding a large motivational tag line for the museum’s mission
At the suggestion of Holt design team, the existing cinder block wall was refaced with a painted and trimmed Sheetrock wall to allow for a cleaner presentation and installation surface

Holt also designed and fabricated separate dimensional graphics to honor donors supporting specific museum areas, such as for the Outdoor Play Plaza, Water Wonders, the Neptune Lobby and the Guest Reception Lobby.

Concluded King, “It was clear that the Holt design team understood our mission and objectives, recognizing parameters we needed for a busy, hands-on environment. They ‘got us.’

“We loved that they started from scratch and did not simply build off our existing pieces. We are thrilled with all of the new recognition signage and continue to receive compliments from donors and guests.”
