Job description

Custom Exhibit-Interior Fabrication/Cabinet Maker

Job description

SUMMARY

The Custom Fabrication Department coordinates the fulfillment of client orders. They work with Project Management in pre-sale activities; then become the primary overseers of orders through their completion. Upon initiation of the Account Management process by the Sales Department, the Department manages and/or directs the production, installation, and delivery processes by working with:

  • Clients
  • Graphics Department
  • Vendors, Suppliers, and Subcontractors
  • Service Department
  • Accounting Department

Cabinet Maker is responsible for constructing, erecting, installing and repairing components for exhibits by following drawings and blueprints.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned).

  • Read blueprints or drawings of articles to be constructed or repaired, and plan sequence of cutting or shaping operations to be performed.
  • Set up and safely operate a variety of woodworking machines and use various hand tools to fabricate and repair wooden cabinets and high-grade furniture.
  • Must be able to outline or dimension parts on paper or lumber stock, according to blueprint or drawing specifications.
  • Match materials for color, grain, or texture.
  • Sand and scrape surfaces and joints of articles to prepare articles for finishing.
  • May dip, brush, or spray assembled articles with protective or decorative materials, such as stain, varnish, or paint.
  • Apply and finish HPL
  • Clean and maintain machines, tooling, and parts to maintain equipment in optimal production condition.
  • Employees will be required to provide all necessary hand tools. Power tools will be provided.
  • Travel to client job sites for installation of fabricated and supplied products.
  • Work with external installation crews and other trades involved in the completion of onsite needs.
  • Responsible for proper safety and the adherence to Holt and client policies while at client’s installation site.
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and neat work environment.
  • Attend Kick-Off meetings as directed.
  • Continually analyze product for more efficient methods while keeping design integrity and cost in mind.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent or technical school; or 5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in exhibits and/or museum and/or corporate interior display manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of trade show, museum, and/or corporate interior display manufacturing industry, including cabinetmaking and metalworking methods and materials.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent relationship skills.
  • Team player – able to accept direction, follow through, and enlist support from others.
  • Ensure the profitability of projects by adhering to budget allowances within the estimate.
  • Proactive and reactive problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of office procedures and methods including telephone communications, email and web-based collaboration platforms.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as required.
  • Must be willing to travel to client job sites for installation of fabricated and supplied products. Travel may be required for extended periods of time. Transportation, per diem and hotel will be provided.

Engineer / Detailer

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Engineer / Detailer to join our team. Your role will involve working with design and fabrication to develop functional shop drawings and CNC files.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop production drawings, schedules and BOMs (build of materials) for each project.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and work with production to resolve them.
  • Develop functional shop drawings and CNC files using designs renderings and detailed drawings.
  • Finishing projects on time and within budget

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar field.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in the field.
  • Wood shop fabricator or commercial cabinet shop experience a +.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles and processes.
  • Advanced skills using Iron CAD or equivalent CAD program.
  • Have knowledge of industry standards. (Architectural, Cabinet production, Trade show)
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to communicate well in written and verbal communications.
  • A positive attitude, flexibility, and conflict resolution.

Production Artist

Holt Experiential is accepting applications for a Production Artist.  This Production Artist would be responsible for creating, reviewing and editing graphics and images for exhibit and interior design projects. They will work with text, logos, and images to develop layout designs for a variety of clients. The Production Artist must be able to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure. Excellent computer skills are essential. Knowledge of relevant software applications, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, is required.

Typical duties and responsibilities

  • Work closely with Design Department managers, other Graphic Designers, and Account Managers.
  • Prep final files for various printers in relevant digital formats.
  • Reformat supplied artwork and photos to project specifications.
  • Create PDFs for creative and client review.
  • Retouch, create clipping paths, and make adjustments to image files.
  • Collect and archive final artwork for potential use in future campaigns.
  • Create content on tight deadlines.

Education and experience

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in digital media, graphic design, or a similar field.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Strong typesetting, layout, photo editing, and color correction skills.
  • Proficiency using design tools in the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.
